When looking to buy a sedan, fuel efficiency is an important factor. You want to spend more time on the go and less time at the pump. A popular fuel-efficient sedan that offers hybrid options is the 2021 Toyota Corolla.
To give you an idea of the Toyota Corolla MPG and some fuel economy tips, Al Hendrickson Toyota has put together this review. We hope that drivers from Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Pompano Beach, and Boca Raton, FL, find this page helpful while doing Corolla research.
MPG Quick Facts:
Engine Options | EPA-Estimated City MPG | EPA-Estimated Highway MPG |
1.8L 4-cylinder | 30 MPG1 | 38 MPG1 |
2.0L 4-cylinder | 31 MPG1 | 40 MPG1 |
1.8L 4-cylinder Hybrid | 53 MPG1 | 52 MPG1 |
The Toyota Corolla has three different engine options across all of its trims. Two of them are gas-powered, and one of them is a hybrid gas engine. The first engine is a 1.8L 4-cylinder that puts out 139 horsepower and 126 lb-ft of torque. Check out the chart for a look at this engine’s MPG.
The second engine is a little more powerful than the first. The 2.0L 4-cylinder puts out 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. While this engine is more powerful, you don’t have to worry about less fuel economy when you drive.
The third engine is a hybrid one and the most fuel-efficient of the three. The 1.8L 4-cylinder hybrid offers 121 horsepower and 105 lb-ft of torque.
Front-wheel drive is standard on all trims of the Toyota Corolla, including the hybrid engine option. The transmissions across the engine options differ slightly, though.
The 2.0L 4-cylinder engine is paired with a standard Dynamic-Shift Continuously Variable Transmission, which focuses on fuel economy and performance. However, if you love the feel and control of a manual transmission, this engine also has an available 6-speed manual.
If you opt for the 1.8L non-hybrid engine, it will be paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission. The hybrid engine is paired with a similar but electronic version called Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission.
In addition to having a vehicle with a fuel-efficient engine, there are a few things you can do to spend less time at the gas station. We have put together a few tips for driving more efficiently in your 2021 Corolla.
